With restrictions easing from next Monday (19th July), there will be no requirement to book into bubbles, so instead of booking a table, you just book yourself in to attend a session. There will be 30 slots available, which means the table tennis hall will be limited to 30 players and a maximum of 14 tables. Booking a slot is on a 'first come, first served' basis. You will also be able to turn up on the night and pay the Duty Manager (as we now have a card reader for contactless transactions), but please note that 30 is our absolute limit. If you arrive without having booked in and the session is full, you will not be able to play.

We also ask that face masks are worn when entering/leaving the venue, and when not playing. This is Club policy.

For reference, the Club will be open on the following dates.

Monday 19th July
Adults 7.30pm - 9.45pm

Thursdays (Jul 22, 29, Aug 5, 12, 19, 26, Sept 2)
Juniors 6.00pm - 7.30pm. Adults 7.30pm - 9.45pm

League Play
Hopefully your team captain has been in touch to ask about your availability for league table tennis. If they haven't, then please chase them up, or contact me (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) if you wish to be considered for a league team. I will need to know by Sunday 25th July
The Leisure Centre have now advised that they are unable to open on Bank Holiday Monday (31st May). This session has been moved to the following day (Tuesday, 1st June).
There are four tables available to book, but please note when doing so, the booking system will still show as Monday.
Any questions, please add a comment and we'll respond as soon as we can.
Many thanks.

The Club is now closed until further notice.

Hello

Having reviewed bookings since re-opening, the Committee has taken the decision to revise hire times. Despite offering a Covid-19 safe venue, the facilities offered have not been utilised as expected, especially Tuesdays, which would normally be a match night for most players in a normal season.

The club survey (which had 44 responses) indicated over 90% of players were comfortable with returning to play and the Membership pricing (which is on par, or below what 86% of respondents are prepared to pay) was calculated accordingly. As we do not wish to increase fees, we will reduce our hire time to suit current demand. Therefore, from Monday 2nd November, and for the duration of November, hire times will be as follows:

Monday: 6.00pm - 7.30pm - Junior Coaching (5 tables available)
Monday: 6.00pm - 7.30pm - Open Practice (3 tables available)
Monday: 7.30pm - 9.00pm - Open Practice (8 tables available)
Thursday: 7.00pm - 8.30pm - Open Practice (8 tables available)

The Committee will review November's hire and will adjust December's hire accordingly.

Kind regards.

Good afternoon

We have received some questions regarding the Club's new Membership structure, so below is some background information into why the decision was made to increase fees.

Since the cessation of table tennis activities in March, the Club has lost significant income through the cancellation of several local, regional and national events. The current restrictions also make it extremely unlikely that we'll host any events before 2021, and with social distancing limiting the event size, we are anticipating far fewer events and a considerable fall in income going forwards. External income has been a contributing factor behind our historically low membership rates.
To comply with government and Table Tennis England guidelines, the Club has had to invest time and money in ensuring that the appropriate cleaning products and PPE equipment is available to members, guests and volunteers. The current guidelines also mean we have a much reduced table capacity and increased hire to cover the additional cleaning, which will have a negative impact.
This season will see the Club having to operate with a reduced income stream and an increased cost base, and so we've had to increase membership fees so that the Club can continue to operate. Although the membership fees have been increased, we still feel that they are good value for money.
For clarity, here is how the new Adult membership works.
£25 joining fee gives you membership of the Club until 31st August 2021.
As a member, the first 15 visits will cost you £5 per visit.
Then, visits 16-30 will cost you £2.50 per visit.
Visits 31 and over will be free (limited to two free visits per week), but additional visits can be purchased.

When broken down over a season, it will cost a 'regular' once-a-week member approx. £3 per session.

We will also be offering family discounts by way of codes/vouchers. Please email Kevin Bird for further details

Hi All

I am extremely pleased to announce that Westfield Table Tennis Club will be re-opening tonight, Thursday 24th September 2020. We have introduced an on-line Booking and Membership system which will allow players to book and pay in advance for table hire and junior coaching sessions. This will remove our staff from having to handle cash;  allow us to efficiently  manage table allocation; manage attendee numbers in line with our risk assessment policy; and maintain records for 21 days for track and trace purposes. The system will allow players to book "bubbles" up to three tables allowing players known to each other to swap practice partners during their 90 minute sessions. It is simple to use but we recommend that you watch the 10 minute Getting Started video prior to registering on the new system. Unfortunately the video lacks any sound at the moment but it should be fairly clear in showing how to register as a non-member on the system, how to book a session and how to purchase a full membership. If you experience any problems using the system please feel free to email westfield@expressmonitoring.com and someone will get back to you. No-one will be allowed to enter the building without a prior booking unless accompanying a child or vulnerable adult who also must have pre-booked. Parents and carers will be asked to either leave the venue after dropping the player off or to be seated in the corridor outside and must wear a mask.

For following weeks, on Mondays there will be junior coaching from 6pm-7.30pm and from 7.30-9.00pm for practice. On Tuesdays there will be two practice sessions available to book on from 7.00-8.30pm and 8.30-10.00pm and on Thursdays there will be two sessions available to book from 7.00-8.30pm and 8.30-10.00pm. There will be eight tables available to hire each evening which will allow us to configure  and operate a COVID-19 safe environment under Table Tennis England guidelines. Players are required to clean the tables during the last 10 minutes of each session and, having done so, must leave the venue as soon as possible. Tables and barriers need to be cleaned and put away at the end of the evening. We will be providing cleaning fluid and paper towels to allow this to be undertaken.

I look forward to seeing you all in the near future.
